Landowner Information Service (LIS) Officer Sue-Ellen Cordon recently joined ABC Riverland Breakfast to discuss the growing number of enquiries Rural Business Support is receiving about quarry developments and proposals across South Australia.

While quarry materials such as limestone, sand, gravel and rock play an important role in building homes, roads and essential infrastructure, many landowners and community members are looking to better understand what quarry developments may mean for their property or local area. The Landowner Information Service provides free, independent, impartial and factual information to help people navigate the process and make informed decisions.

“At Rural Business Support we’re seeing quite an increase in enquiries and a growing interest in quarrying right across South Australia. Wherever there’s a proposal that may affect a property or local community, it’s natural that people have questions,” said Landowner Information Service Officer Sue-Ellen Cordon.

Sue-Ellen explained that while information about quarry developments is available online, it can often be difficult to determine what is relevant to an individual’s circumstances.

“We take the time to help people understand the process and explain it in plain English. We make sure people have factual information that’s relevant to their situation, giving them the confidence to ask informed questions and make decisions that are right for their circumstances.”
