GrowStrong 2024

In partnership with the Wine Grape Council of SA (WGCSA), Rural Business Support (RBS) supported the GrowStrong Business Fundamentals program, providing vineyard owners and managers with expert business planning tools. This initiative targeted grape growers in the Riverland and Limestone Coast, helping them strengthen their business operations and improve long-term resilience.

The program included eight masterclasses, designed and delivered in partnership with the University of Adelaide’s Business School. Throughout the training, growers were supported by Family and Business (FaB) Mentors, who provided additional coaching and guidance.

A key component of the program was the RBS Business Health Check, where RBS Rural Financial Counsellors worked directly with participants in a three-session process:

  • Business Health Check & Financial Review – assessing business operations, financial position, markets, and challenges.
  • Business & Personal Goal Setting – developing a succession plan and transition strategies.
  • Business Planning & Strategy Development – creating a structured Plan-on-a-Page with key financial and operational goals.

This initiative, with 95% of its cost covered by state and federal funding, provided growers with valuable financial insights and actionable strategies to improve business sustainability.
