What is the Landowner Information Service, and who is it for?
The Landowner Information Service (LIS) provides free, independent and confidential support to landholders across South Australia who are navigating land access, resources exploration, mining, quarrying, hydrogen and renewable energy projects.
LIS supports farmers, pastoralists and landholders to better understand their rights, obligations and options when dealing with companies or projects seeking access to their land.
What types of issues can the LIS help with?
LIS can help landholders understand and navigate matters such as:
- Land access for infrastructure, resources or energy projects
- Compensation and conduct agreements
- Access requests and negotiations
- Understanding correspondence, agreements and proposed activities
- Knowing your rights and responsibilities as a landholder
Support is practical and focused on helping you make informed decisions.
Does the LIS cost anything?
No. LIS support is completely free, with no fees or hidden costs.
Our service is independent and confidential, and we respect your privacy at all times.
Is LIS independent of mining, quarrying, or infrastructure companies and government?
Yes. The LIS is a free, impartial service that supports landowners to understand their situation and make informed decisions.
While our role is to work alongside landowners, we also engage with resource companies and other stakeholders where needed. This helps ensure all parties better understand each other and allows us to provide more accurate, specific and practical information.
We don’t represent any one side, our focus is on helping you navigate the process with clear, independent guidance so you can make decisions that are right for you and your property.
I’ve already been contacted by a company, is it too late to get help?
No. Whether you’ve just received an initial letter or are already in discussions, LIS can help you understand where you’re at and what your options are at any stage of the process.
It’s never too early, or too late, to seek independent advice.
I’m busy or remote, how does support work?
We understand that landholders are often time-poor and geographically spread out. LIS support can be provided, on-farm or at your property, in town, at an RBS office or by phone or video.
Our team can work around what suits you best.
